Travel without leaving the house!

In the midst of the lockdown, a lot of us can’t help but feel trapped in our own homes.

Those of us with a wandering heart, all this time in one place can feel bridling.

Here are ways you can have an adventure without leaving your home.

1. Take Virtual Tours of Museums or attractions

There are some incredible collections you can virtually browse and more often than not, you get a better view than when you visit in person.

2. Plan your Ultimate Bucket List

When the world is back on its feet, we’ve all got some making up to do on the adventure spectrum – and we at Cloud9 will be happy to help you on your travel chronicles.

Create your travel destination list – if there’s anything we wayfarers have learned is to never take the chance to explore for granted.

3. Learn a New Language

Learning a language can be an escape to that foreign land you have been meaning to explore. Have you been meaning to go to Rwanda, Senegal, Benin or perhaps the Seychelles? Have your heart set on learning French. Challenge yourself to learning a little Afrikaans, if you would like to travel to South Africa. It is certainly not the easiest language to master, but a good challenge never hurts!

4. Cook a destination Cuisine

By far the best and easiest way to bring different cultures to you is  through your kitchen. With indigeneous foods like Shakshuka, Chakalaka, Jollof Rice, Penne, Halloumi cheese, Croissants, Falafel, Jjajangmyeon.

There are a plethora of recipes you can find online – bring the world to you in your own kitchen.

5. Read a Travel Book

Now is as good a time as any to get into the pages of a travel memoir. There are a number of epic travel memoirs that should be on your “best of all time” reading list, as well as some newer reads you might not have heard about yet. Also revisit your favorite travel blogs and/or vlogs.

6. Watch a Travel Movie

“Eat, Pray, Love” anyone? Sometimes a book won’t cut it and you just want an immediate transportation to another time and place. There are some great travel films out there that never get old such as Under the Tuscan Sun, Into the Wild, and The Beach.

We will be happy to hear your thoughts
